MENDING: How to fix a hole on the inside leg of your jeans
How to fix a hole on the inside of your jeans
Step One:
I unpicked the back pocket to use as the inside patch, if you have some scrap fabric you can use this instead
Cut the patch larger than the hole (at least 1.5-2cm larger on all sides)
If you have an overlocker or zigzag stitch around the edge of the patch to stop the patch from fraying.
Step Two:
Pin the patch over the hole (on the inside of the jeans)
When pinning make sure the fabric of the jeans is flat and you won’t stitch in any folds
If you have a sewing machine, stitch around the patch. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can hand stitch around the patch
Step Three:
Once the patch is stitch on and the hole is covered, get an embroidery thread and needle to visibly mend over the hole
Stitch on top of the hole and through the patch under. Stitch all over the area, securing the worn out hole / threads of the jean to the patch to thicken the ripped area.
This technique is like Boro mending which is a traditional Japanese method of visible mending.
